Magnus, my friend. First off...very cool name. Secondly...I had a BLAST strolling through your Gallery! The only thing I found truely disturbing...is the fact that you had a Greek Lamb Party...and you didn't invite me!!

Mike, thank you very much for your kind comments!!! Your art in SW books has been awesome to look at, and a friend of mine even gave his Marvel RPG characters your last name, because he's a big fan!! What are you working on these days? Do you have a Facebook profile or fan page where we can follow you, or a blog?

... and as for the Greek Lamb Party... man, I would have invited you without a doubt if I had known you wanted in!!! The cook is still my friend, so if you're ever down in Uruguay, consider it a done deal!!!!

I'm honored by your friend's show of appreciation! It's gratifying to know that all that hard work was truely effective. I knew how expensive those RPG books were, and I was determined to do my part to make it worth laying out that kind of money. I'm also honored by your invite, man. Greek Lamb Party...mmmm. Yeeeah. If I don't get to Uraguay for the next one...take a bite for me!

Since my WEG days, I worked several years for a company that fabricated large-scale amusement park elements out of EPS foam. I got to not only design, but also sculpt and paint. It was a great job (while it lasted)! These past years I've primarily done design work for a company in Utah that manufactures children's play-areas for malls, airports, etc. Softplay elements and the like. It keeps me creative, and helps pay the bills. Now even THAT work has slowed. The economy is terrible for art-related work.

As for illustration work...I keep my hand in it by taking small assignments here and there. Mostly for a company called Green Ronin Publishing. I also get the occasional one-shot illo for a publication called Black Gate. Short fiction/fantasy in a small book format. "Reflection", "The Inheritance", and "The Trial" (see Gallery) were all done for Black Gate.

Hope you can keep getting work; as much as possible... I'm starting out as a comic book writer; but I'm nowhere near pro yet (I did get a paid gig for an essay about comics some years ago, waiting for the money still...). I know Green Ronin, but I haven't really seen any of those books; and I haven't heard about Black Gate until now, but I'll take a look at your gallery.

Thanks for your friendly replies; Mike, take care... and keep in touch.

Yes..Green Ronin products seem to be difficult to find on bookstore shelves. I get the impression that most of their sales come through online ordering. I encourage you to take a look at blackgate.com. If you can write comics, you can probably do short fiction/fantasy. So who knows...perhaps that could open up a path for you. Black Gate is a quality publication, and well worth reading. They only put out 3 or 4 issues a year...and the pay isn't great...but illustrating for them gives me the opportunity to stretch my artistic muscles a bit. As you will see, the three illos I've done for them are very different than my other stuff.

Oh, nice... I'll take a look and see if I can pitch them something. Thanks for the tip!

Who knows, man. You could end up giving them a story...that I end getting to do the illustration for. That'd be coool!

That'd be very, very awesome. I did read over their submission guidelines, and beyond the fact that they're temporary closed to submissions; I must say I don't have any ideas for epic medieval fantasy; I don't dig that genre too much nowadays... I tend more toward superheroes, science fiction, and humor.

But if you ever wanna collaborate on something, that'd be great. :)
